While I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season, the break from school also provides an excellent window of time for seniors to apply to colleges. Our Regular Decision deadline is January 15 and we encourage interested seniors to submit an application if they haven’t done so already.
Our staff enjoys the break too, as we just finished evaluating all Early Action applications. The break in-between Early Action notifications (decision letters will be mailed on December 24) and the Regular Decision application deadline gives us much needed office time to complete the many tasks we put on hold to read files. I commend the staff for the many hours they contribute to their jobs in the fall and winter months - we have an extremely dedicated staff who truly care about their students as well as their individual duties at DU.
And speaking of our Early Action pool, we were up 20% in applications and the group was extremely bright. Our average academic profile for the students we admitted Early Action was the best yet - 3.77 GPA, 28 ACT, and 1241 SAT. We certainly look forward to welcoming many of our newly admitted students to campus next fall! For the students applying Regular Decision, we look forward to reading your applications, essays, and other supporting materials. To learn more about our application process, you can view a video of me explaining the steps in greater detail. Once you apply, be sure to review our check-list to ensure your file is complete and ready to be evaluated by one of our admission counselors.
For those wanting a break from the stress of completing applications, check out this classic “Saturday Night Live” skit with Billy Crystal. Your parents probably saw this live years ago, but it is a lighthearted look at the work of admission counselors during recruitment season. Collectively, our staff visited approximately 700 high schools throughout the world this past fall - and while our visits and presentations are much different than the one Billy Crystal gave, the humor hit home!
