My wife Karla and I attended the University of Denver Men's Basketball game on Saturday. It was against one of the top teams in our conference, Middle Tennessee State. In fact, going into the game, Middle Tennesse State was undefeated and the DU men were just coming off a difficult loss on the road Thursday night, losing by one point in overtime.
The game Saturday was televised nationally on ESPN as one of the featured games of the week. Both teams are having strong seasons.
Well, the game didn't disappoint anyone. In fact it was one of the highlights of my DU career. The game was electric. I had chills running through my body most of the game. I have never seen school spirit on display at DU as much as I witnessed Saturday. Our men fought hard, played well and won by 15 points. And our students...they were amazing. The student section was like having a sixth man on the floor the whole game.
This is such an exciting team to watch and they are talented and they are young. And they are true student athletes and wonderful role models. Who in their right mind would ever want to miss seeing them compete? Great win for a great team! Go Pioneers!!!
Hopefully March Madness will take on greater meaning for our team and DU this year. Stay tuned and follow our Pioneers - or better yet, enroll and watch them from the student section yourself next year!
