So today was my last day of class for the semester! How crazy is that? Turned in one last paper this morning and now I don't have anything until my exams in November! So crazy. Now I'm sitting here and I don't really know what to do with my time. Anyway, in big news... I filled out my summer housing contract today and I'm gonna be moving into town from November 'til January! I'm so excited, I'll be living with two of my friends from Africa Jam and I'll be closer to the office and able to do a lot more for fun, so it works out really nicely.

I hope everyone at DU is enjoying their first day back! I can definitely sympathize with the adjustment, today was my first day back from Spring Break (and it started with a test!), but it's all good! I have talked to a few of my friends back in Denver and it sounds like it's business as usual on the DU campus. I'm sure it's absolutely beautiful right about now, with all the trees all full and green, the flowers in bloom, the water gardens full, aaah... I've gotta admit, I miss that place. But anyway, like I was saying! Happy first day of school, I hope everything is going well :)

So... it's been almost one month since I got to Cape Town! It's unbelievable, to say the least. I've been having an incredible time, I don't know how to explain it all! But I'll do my best...

So I haven't blogged in awhile, but that is mostly because my SUMMER is off to such a crazy start! Actually, it's almost over haha. But anyway, the end of the year was pretty bittersweet. The mix of finals and moving out and saying goodbye to people and looking forward to summer makes for an odd mix of emotions. But overall, everything went really well. My roommate and I pulled an all-nighter and got entirely moved out by the 2nd day of finals week (neither of us had a ton of tests), and that was that! Just that quickly, my second year of college was over. It's so weird to think about. But anyway, my abbreviated summer has been FLYING BY! I took a trip to San Diego and loved it, then came back and settled into the good ol' CO Springs. It's great because I'm still so close to Denver and DU, and a lot of my friends stayed there to work over the summer. So I still get the best of both worlds.
Anyway, I'm sorry I'm kind of all over the place! I guess my brain is in summer mode :) But I know this is one of the most nerve-racking parts of the whole college process for a lot of you (the summer before freshman year!) My best advice is to just RELAX! Enjoy your summer, enjoy your high school friends, and when you get to DU just be yourself! It is a stressful transition for EVERYONE, so don't feel like you have to be someone you're not just to fit in or make friends. I guarantee that you'll make some of the best friends of your LIFE once you get there, even if it's not right away. But just enjoy your summer right now! My summer before freshman year was the most fun I've ever had in a summer, now that I think about it!
Soooo... I'm leaving TWO WEEKS from TODAY! How crazy is that? I finally came out of denial that it is winter where I'm going, and I started getting more warm clothes. You wouldn't think it gets too cold there, but I keep hearing that South African winters are no joke! I'm sooo thankful for this opportunity and I cannot believe it's almost here! Right now the biggest task is planning my MASSIVE going away party, since I'll be gone the whole year I feel like the whole city is going to be there! But that will be fun, and then next thing you know I'm outta here! I still look back and I'm amazed at how simple this whole processs has been! It's been lengthy and a little overwhelming at times, but I really haven't had to jump through any hoops or do anything too crazy to take care of getting study abroad taken care of, and everyone has been so helpful! I'm SO thankful I go to DU and I have all of these incredible resources available to me, because I know this trip is going to change my life! Anyway, I'll be back before I leave to post some pictures from this summer and the end of the year! AndI'll still be updating this blog from South Africa!
