To tell you a little more about myself, I’m from the beautiful Lakewood, Colorado. I’ve lived on top of the same hill overlooking Denver for most of my life and never expected that I’d still be doing that. I’ve been a commuter student since my first year at the University of Denver (DU) and am having a great experience. I’ve gotten so involved on campus that many of my friends and people I know actually think I live on campus. I bet you’re wondering what my social life is like. That’s natural :) Hopefully by reading my blog you’ll get a feel of how I’ve gotten involved, who I am, and what I do.
On the academic side, I’m majoring in Communication Studies and Religious Studies with minors in Leadership and International Studies. I’ve come from a successful and very science-driven academic life in High School, but I’ve found that although I might be good at something doesn’t mean that I love it. I’m very impressed with these two majors I’ve decided on. I’ll definitely write another post sometime about DU’s general academics, and how hard it was for me to choose what I wanted to do, but to sum it up, I’ve found that the academic departments at DU (i.e. Religious Studies, International Studies, etc.) seriously focus on the students’ personal development. I really think that DU was the perfect fit for me and within just a couple years, I’m a completely different person. I’ve always been ethical, moral, and aware of others, but I’ve developed these characteristics even farther. I’m a lot more aware of the issues around me. I’ve learned how who I am can fit with what I can offer to improve my environment while having one heck of a fun time!
Stay tuned to hear more interesting, funny, and exciting stories of this Pioneer!
