On March 29th, a Thursday, the University of Denver will be hosting its first major pre-Presidential Debate event: The Irish national debate will be coming to campus in order to host a mock-debate with our very own DU debate team.
The subject, in a comedic fashion, will be whether or not to reelect President Obama to office. The Irish debate team, world-renown for their humor and quick wit, will be arguing that we should indeed be reelecting Obama.
A variety of college Democrats...
will be a part of the debate. The event is free to all DU students, and we are excited about the opportunity to see a world famous debate team performance. The event will be held in our largest auditorium on campus, Davis Auditorium. The capacity of the hall is around 500 students, and we are hoping to fill the entire space.
On this St. Patrick's day I thought it was applicable to blog about the Irish National Debate team coming to campus. We are going to be offering the event as a Pioneer Passport event, in other word, students will be able to check into the debate for an extra chance to be one of the roughly 200 DU community members drawn to attend the Magness arena actual Presidential debate on October 3rd. More updates will be coming soon, stay tuned!
