I have been a bit behind on my music scene updates out here, but there is one concert I got to this spring that blew me away and I wanted to make sure to highlight it here: Of Monsters and Men.
The Ogden
A folk group out of Iceland, this group was first pointed out to me by fellow admissions blogger Aryn, check out here blog here! Aryn has always had awesome taste in music, so when she suggest I take a listen I knew they'd be great. Now Of Monsters and Men is touring all across the US and Europe to huge success. When they came to Denver this Spring they performed at the fantastic venue of the Ogden. With a packed audience, a la picture above, the group brought the house down. A group of five of us, including Aryn and my sister, got right up to the front. I would recommend listening to their track or even just Pandora station to anyone who wants to get a taste of some popular Coloradan-esque music. Even though they're not locals they definitely capture the spirited and carefree lifestyle of the state.
Ting in the middle wants me to make sure you know she's going for the Peace sign, not flicking anyone off, haha.
Here are also some pictures of DU's own Musicfest. It was a very different kind of music, house/techno/dubstep, but with headliners of Sebastian InGrosso and Kapslap the atmosphere was still a blast! Plus the Gates Filed House was packed.
