First off, now that May 1st has passed, congratulations to all of the new students that have decided to attend the University of Denver next fall! I know it must have been a hard decision for many of you, but let me tell you, you have made the right decision!
The DU community is ready to embrace you and you will find college is truly a time for intellectual and personal growth!
Aside from depositing here at DU, there has been much action going on here with the Undergraduate Student Government elections. There have been lots of signs, chalking, and posters all around campus. Elections actually ended today and I would like to congratulate Jim Francescon for winning the election to become the new Undergraduate Student Body President. He is a great person, has worked in the admissions office (he might have given you your tour) and I know he will do a great job. He will become a familiar face to you, as he also will be one of the key members putting on orientation week and will welcome you during Pioneer Passage.
Aside from that, this past weekend, I got to spend some time raising money for Lymphoma Cancer at a Kentucky Derby event downtown. You were supposed to dress up in Kentucky Derby clothing, obviously we didn’t but there were some other people with some great clothes. It was a fun time and I always enjoy helping a great cause.
Yes, we aren't dressed up properly, but at least we have the horse :-)...
Greg actually won a candle in the raffle!
Now, Greg's sister Erin has the right idea - she was dressed up properly :-)!
If you have any questions about DU that I can answer for you, e-mail me at thashimo@du.edu and I will answer your questions for you and you may even be featured on our blog to help other students as well who may have the same questions, so ask away!
