Some people eat to live; other people live to eat. I definitely fall in the latter category. If you are a food enthusiast, you will ABSOLUTELY love the city of Denver. With events like The Taste of Colorado, The Big Eat, and the Westword Dish, there are plenty of opportunities to step outside of your normal eating routine.
DU students don’t have to wait until these events to add variety to their food regimen. With a DU meal plan, there are more than a dozen different campus eating options available to you. The fantastic dining staff also works with students with special dietary options in order to ensure that individuals’ nutritional needs are met.
There are a wide range of cuisines all over the Denver metro area. However, within minutes of our residence halls, you will find enticing options right in the University Park community. If you feel like eating breakfast in the DU area, then give Pete’s University Park Café or Jelly a try. Who doesn’t like burritos made to order? We are spoiled with great options near the University of Denver; the first Chipotle in the country, Qdoba, and Illegal Pete’s are a stone’s throw away from campus. If you are craving sushi, Wasabi Roll & Go is one of the newest restaurants to join University Blvd. Some items on their list include the DU Roll, Pioneer Roll and Honor Roll. Maybe you are a burgers and shake kind of guy/gal. Crimson and Gold (DU’s school colors) Tavern offers a variety of combinations of classic American food. For hot dog lovers, Mustard’s Last Stand is a must stop. Mustard’s has been a DU standby for over 30 years.
If you are interested in hummus or baklava at 3 a.m., then Jerusalem Restaurant is just the place for you. Jerusalem is open until at least 4 a.m. each day.
Palais Casablanca brings Moroccan dining to the DU area. When you need dessert, grab some from Dietrich’s Chocolate & Espresso or grab Blue Bell ice cream from Safeway.
When you plan to visit DU, allow your stomach to talk you into trying some of the savory eating options in our neighborhood.
