Summer is really great for hanging out with your family, especially for an out-of-state student like me. I have been taking full advantage of being around my family!! After my post a few weeks ago about how friends spread out... it's nice to always have a group of people that you know you can always stay with. I am so grateful that my sister came home from University of Washington this summer, that my two half-brothers and their families are close by, and that my parents are always around to go to a movie with me or take me out to dinner!
One example of how important family is comes to mind from the past week. Very few of my friends know that I have an absolute phobia when it comes to needles and doctors. I haaaate them which is weird because my dad is a doctor. Anyway, I had an infection or an allergic reaction (they still don't really know what it was) and even though I left work early, I didn't know if I could drive so I just went straight to the ER after getting off the train because there was one a few blocks away. Even though it wasn't life threatening or anything and I had it under control... my mom came to my rescue and comforted me through my worst nightmare... going to the emergency room. AKA the most intense concentration of the doctor and needle combo. It was such a nice gesture and one that my friends probably wouldn't think of ("Oh you have everything under control? OK I'll check up on you later").
I'm so glad I got to be here at this crazy time where my niece and nephew are growing up like crazy. They both walk, they both talk... and they look totally different every time I see them!!!! Family is so special and I'm beginning to appreciate it the older I get! Here are some awesome memories I've made with them this summer:
My nephew's baptism!
